Pothole data
Dear Bradford City Council,
Under the FOI Act, I would like to request the following information regarding pothole data in Bradford:
1) How many potholes were recorded for every area in Bradford for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
2) What was the average time to fix these potholes per region for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
3) How many accidents were reported due to potholes in every area for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
4) What is the amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?
5) What is the total amount of money paid out in compensation due to potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?
6) What was the budget to repair potholes for each region for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

I refer to your request dated 27th October 2023 under the Freedom of
Information Act asking to supply the following information:
1 - How many potholes were recorded for every area in Bradford for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
Response –
2021 – 7635
2022 – 9169
2023 – January - October - 11284
2 - What was the average time to fix these potholes per region for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
Response - Your request for information has been considered by the
Council under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I can confirm that the
information requested is not held by Bradford Council and therefore, this
response acts as a refusal notice under section 17(1) of the Freedom of
Information Act in accordance with section 1(1)(a) of the Act.
3 - How many accidents were reported due to potholes in every area for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
Response –
2021 – 122
2022 – 113
2023 up to 30th October 2023 - 137
4 - What is the amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes
for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?
Response –
2020/21 = 181,812.50
2021/22 = 166,890.30
2022/23 = 181,867.00
5 - What is the total amount of money paid out in compensation due to
potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?
Response –
2021 - £17,161.22
2022 - £12,383.17
2023 up to 30th October 2023 - £26,567.81
6 - What was the budget to repair potholes for each region for the years
2021, 2022 and 2023?
Response - Bradford Council received specific Pot Hole capital funding
from the DfT as follows:
2020/21 £3,867,858
2021/22 £3,429,170
No specific funding was provided in 2022/23
The allocation is used to permanently repair potholes or prevent them
forming in the first place which includes carriageway patching and
carriageway resurfacing schemes.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, if you are not
