Dear Newport City Council,
Under the FOI Act, I would like to request the following information regarding pothole data in Newport:
1) How many potholes were recorded for every area in Newport for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
2) What was the average time to fix these potholes per region for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
3) How many accidents were reported due to potholes in every area for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
4) What is the amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?
5) What is the total amount of money paid out in compensation due to potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?
6) What was the budget to repair potholes for each region for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

Please note the 2023 figures are up to the end of October.
1) How many potholes were recorded for every area in Newport for the years
2021, 2022, and 2023?

2) What was the average time to fix these potholes per region for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?
We do not hold the date for average time, please find the percentage of
jobs completed on time:

2022 83.33% 91.3% 74.33% 75.89%

We do not hold data on number reported unless they were for a claim for
compensation. Those figures are provided below

2022 £185,352.78
2023 £382,820.59
5) What is the total amount of money paid out in compensation due to

6) What was the budget to repair potholes for each region for the years
2021, 2022 and 2023?
Highways Budgets (Financial years) these cover the whole of Highways and
not specifically potholes. This includes Salary, Superannuation, etc
2020-21 £1,496,695.00
2021-22 £1,519,867.00
2022-23 £1,611,128.00
2023-24 £1,719,645.00
