1) How many potholes were recorded for every area in Sunderland for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?

2) What was the average time to fix these potholes per region for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?

3) How many accidents were reported due to potholes in every area for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023?

4) What is the amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

5) What is the total amount of money paid out in compensation due to potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

6) What was the budget to repair potholes for each region for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

Dear Liam Edwards,

 

I refer to your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. I can confirm that the Council does hold some of
this information, as detailed below.

 

Under the FOI Act, I would like to request the following information
regarding pothole data in Sunderland:

 

 1. How many potholes were recorded for every area in Sunderland for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?

2021 = 9,770

2022 = 6,823

2023 (up to w/e 05/11/2023) = 10,602

 

NB – unfortunately the Council are unable to break these figures down by
area.

 

 2. What was the average time to fix these potholes per region for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?

2021 = 96.56% fixed within 24 hours

2022 = 96.84% fixed within 24 hours

2023 (Up to w/e 05/11/2023) = 96.60% fixed within 24 hours

 

 3. How many accidents were reported due to potholes in every area for the
years 2021, 2022, and 2023?

The Council does not hold this information.

 

 4. What is the amount of money spent by the council on fixing potholes
for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

2021 = £311,584 

2022 = £244,772 

2023 (Up to w/e 05/11/2023) = £269,450 

 

 5. What is the total amount of money paid out in compensation due to
potholes for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

2021 = £1,042.53

2022 = £0

2023 = £481.96

 

 6. What was the budget to repair potholes for each region for the years
2021, 2022 and 2023?

Cost of repairing potholes is managed as part of the highways emergency
repairs total budget and is not specifically allocated for potholes.

 

This information has been provided in response to a Freedom of Information
request and this must be acknowledged in any subsequent use of the
information. In addition, the authority must be notified of any proposed
re-use of this information for commercial or other purposes.
