Dear sir/madam,

Thank you for your below email.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is not covered by the Freedom of
Information Act (the FOIA), as it is not a designated authority, but has
adopted its own voluntary Transparency Code that closely reflects the
FOIA.

I am treating this as a request under our Transparency Code.

My response:

We are aware of the speculation and assertions in press comment over a
year ago, to which we responded at the time.

However, we have received no allegations or evidence which require
investigation.

Internal review and complaint process

If you are not satisfied with my response to your request for information,
you can request that the matter is reconsidered as an internal review. To
do so please send the request by email to
[1][email address] marked for the attention of the
Information Compliance and Governance Manager.

Please note that your request for an internal review must be submitted
within 60 days of our decision. We aim to issue a formal response to
internal reviews within 20 working days.

Internal review process

The internal review will consider any limitations applied and the
information disclosed. This aspect of the review is final and there is no
further avenue for appeal. It is also important for you to note that, as
this is a voluntary code, the Information Commissioner is unable to
consider your complaint.

More information on how we handle requests, including a link to a copy of
our Transparency Code, can be found on our website

Dear sir/madam,

Thank you for your email – I am considering this as a new request.

My response:

I have considered this request, however I am unable to provide information
on or comment about an individual employee and their career/recruitment
history.

This is because the information is exempt under the following limitations
of our code:

o Absolute limitation 5: Personal data which if disclosed would breach
the relevant data protection legislation.

Information held in regard to specific individual would be personal data
and so we have to consider the rights of that individual under the
relevant data protection legislation. Therefore such information is
subject to Absolute Limitation 5 of our Code.

Internal review and complaint process

If you are not satisfied with my response to your request for information,
you can request that the matter is reconsidered as an internal review. To
do so please send the request by email to

Dear SRA Information Compliance,

In your "email" of 11 Dec 20 you wrote:

do so please send the request by email to
[1][email address] marked for the attention of the

1. You did not provide the said email address. 2. Even if you had, as you can see this site has an internal review facility & which I had assumed you were doing. It seems however, that you now expect me to email you. I do not see why. Please do not hesitate from performing your statutory duty of internal review by waiting for my email & proceed without delay. I have told the site that I am requesting an internal review which is what I did earlier too.

Yours sincerely,

C Nazareth

Dear C Nazareth,

In our previous correspondence we have referred to ‘emailing’ us about matters, as that is how correspondence you submit to us via the wahtdotheyknow.com website is received by us.

Our team’s remit is to respond to request for recorded information under the Transparency Code. We are unable to get into a discussion with you about the matters you are raising in your correspondence.

We have addressed your points as far as we are able to under our code, and have reviewed our responses in line with our process.

The internal review issued to you under reference IG/TC/407-IR was a review of the limitations applied in previous correspondence.

We will not be responding to you further about this matter.

Yours sincerely

Dear SRA Information Compliance,

I hope you know you sound absurd when you claim

"In our previous correspondence we have referred to ‘emailing’ us about matters, as that is how correspondence you submit to us via the wahtdotheyknow.com website is received by us."

I thought you preferred to communicate with me away from this site. Does your transparency code say where to report you for your falsehoods?

Yours sincerely,

C Nazareth

Dear SRA Information Compliance,

You suggest that I complain against your poor service by submitting an online form to the same people who destroyed the original complaint? Sounds highly transparent of you.

Since Paul Philip became Chief Executive of SRA he has 'amalgamated' the email for complaints to & against the SRA to the same address "[email address] ".

Thus the same anonymous handlers who have dismissed the original complaint against a solicitor handle complaints against themselves. It would be funny if it were not so perverse. In fact you even confuse complainants by providing 2 separate addresses in London & Birmingham
Please tell me how this works.

You will agree there should be a dedicated address for complaining against anyone in the SRA including the CEO Paul Phillip who receives all complaints by such abuse of process,

Yours sincerely,

C Nazareth
