Patrick Clifton

Dear Gwynedd Council,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Please can you provide me with the following:

- The total amount spent per year in the last two complete financial years on:

• Standard First Class Postage
• Standard Second Class Postage

- The total number of letters sent per year in the last two complete financial years via:

• Standard First Class Postage
• Standard Second Class Postage

- The total number of letters sent per year in the last two complete financial years which were sent via Standard First Class Postage but which were not urgent.

For the purpose of this request, ‘Standard Postage’ of both ‘First Class’ and ‘Second Class’ refer to the services offered by Royal Mail for delivering letters of the following specification:

Length: 240mm max
Width: 165mm max
Thickness: 5mm max
Weight: 0-100g

Also, for the purpose of this request, ‘urgent’ is defined as any mail:

• Which had to reach it’s recipient by a specific date.
• Which required it’s recipient to return or reply to all or part of the letter by a specific date. NB: Letters where replies are not compulsory e.g. where a letter contains the clause ‘If a reply is not received within X days, we will assume that X’ should not be classed as urgent.
• Whose delay would be significantly detrimental to the recipient.

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Clifton
