Regarding post-operative instructions for day surgery patients:

1.       Do you have a leaflet with instructions for patients? If yes
could you please send by email?

Yes, please find attached six patient information leaflets for inguinal
hernia surgery, varicose vein surgery and haemorrhoidectomy surgery.

2.       When can patients return to work after inguinal hernia surgery?

Variable depending on the patient and the job they have.

3.       When can patients return to driving after inguinal hernia
surgery?

Again, this is variable depending on the patient, but approximately after
ten days.

4.       When can patients return to work after varicose vein surgery?

Usually, patients need to take one week sick leave after varicose vein
surgery.

5.       When can patients return to driving after varicose vein surgery?

If the surgery has been performed on the left leg they can usually drive
after 24 hours. If the surgery has been performed on the right leg it
varies between patients but usually after 72 hours. We ask the patient to
sit in the car and imitate doing an emergency stop. They can drive when
they feel the manoeuvre is done safely with minimal or no discomfort.

6.       When can patients return to work after haemorroidectomy surgery?

This is variable depending on the patient, the job and the operation.

7.       When can patients return to driving after haemorrhoidectomy
surgery?

Again, this is variable depending on the patient, the job and the
operation.

Many thanks,

Steph
