This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Pat James (Account suspended)

Dear Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, as part of the privatization of the Post Office, it has become Government policy to "franchise out" the public interface of postal system to "private enterprise" in the form of supermarkets, amenity stores and petrol stations, carrying out the functions of a village or small town.

Such private enterprise operations have the lawful right to exclude any member of the public from their premises for any number of lawful reasons or obscure company rules.

Please provide a copy of your policy or any other documentation, which ensures and assures unimpeded access and availability to all members of the public in the case of a franchised post office operation, and that the conditions of trading of those business's do not impinge on public amenity.

To summarize, I am requesting your documented policy in serving and protecting the public interest in this important matter.

Yours faithfully,

Pat James
