Dear Post Office Limited,

I learnt that Post Office at Newcastle under Lyme ST5 1PN was closed indefinitely from 08th January 2021 until date. The reason mentioned verbally by officials at this Post Office branch that the branch is operating in a book shop which is not an essential service, although the Post Office itself is an essential service. I further noticed that all other Post Offices in Bookshops, Souvenir Shops, etc., remained open in the same circumstances throughout the lockdown period starting 05th January 2021 until date.

1. What is the recorded reason for this Post Office branch ST5 1PN to be closed?
2. What is the alternative arrangement put in place by Post Office Limited for general public to avail the essential services denied by this branch, during period of closure in spite of Government exemption?
3. As lockdown restrictions do not apply to Post Office operations regardless on its location being within non-essential spaces, when is the tentative date of reopening of this particular branch as recorded in Post Office Limited?
4. What is the decision criteria for Post Offices to open and close during Lockdown in spite of exemptions?

Yours faithfully,

Rohit Ammal Kaitheri
