"They added it was "perfectly normal - and right - that government gathers all relevant information when approached for taxpayer funds to support a business".Can you say what information you gathered from POL before allowing them to enter the doomed Horizon Court Case and waste hundreds of millions of tax-payers money.For instance proof of Horizon robustness,likelihood hundreds of SPM had gone rogue,chances of winning etc?

The first question in your most recent correspondence is as follows: "Can you look again for why BEIS felt it could tell the Minister CWU/NFSP were confident in Horizon as they have both denied saying this?" Content-wise, we have understood this question as seeking the same information as your previous FoI request dated 10 November 2021, where you asked: "Which document enabled Government to tell Jo Swinson that 'both the NFSP and CWU have expressed full confidence in the system'?"
We responded to your request on 18 March 2022, stating that we would not be able to answer your request without exceeding the cost limit of £600 provided under Section 12 of the Act. As your most recent question is seeking the same information, the same response applies. However, as previously explained, if you were to refine your request to a specific document or specific time period, we will give due consideration to our obligations under the Act in respect of that request.
The second question in your most recent correspondence regarding the day 1 briefings for new postal ministers is as follows: "Can you look at supplying the entire briefs rather than bullet points." Your original request dated 10 November 2021 was for the "notes on Horizon provided to new ministers between the years 2000 to present." On 18 March 2022, we supplied all the relevant Horizon-related extracts from the briefings, as this was the only information from the briefings that was in scope to your request.
The other information on the documents which was not provided to you was all irrelevant to your request and was therefore redacted. For this reason, we decided it would be easier for you to receive all the information that was in scope to your request in one place rather than multiple pages of redacted information. If you wish to make a further request which calls into scope other parts of the day 1 briefings, we will again give due consideration to our obligations under the Act in respect of that request.

Dear FOI Requests,Thank you for a reply.Like most people I have no knowledge of how Briefings to Minister work or what safeguards or checks are available to prevent Ministers receiving false information.The NFSP and CWU dispute that they expressed full confidence in Horizon and yet Jo was told other wise.Can you explain the process for a Ministerial Brief,let us suppose it is wriiten by a Junior Civil Servant-is it then looked at by a Senior colleague before being presented.?Or is it sent off sight unseen by the juniors?If checked by someone higher placed within the Service would they not be responsible for the document and thanks to their senior position be liable for being named?You are in the midst of handing over hundreds of millions of tax payers moiney to compensate victims of a failure to hold POL to account and provide meaningfull scrutiny..Do not these unique and distressing cicumstances put you in mind to break wth tradition and do the right thing?
