Dear Tim McCormack,
Freedom of Information Request – FOI2023/00303
We are writing in response to your email received by Post Office Limited (“
Post
Office”) on 2 June, which has been dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (“
FOIA”).
In your email you have requested the information shown in bold below:
“
As per Nick Read's email to Sir Wyn WIlliams dated 5th May, the day
before the coronation, Nick has kindly paid back a portion of his total
remuneration for the year 21/22.
In POL's annual report for that year, on page 45, there is a section CEO
Pay Ratio, which is now, as a result of the bonus repayment, out of date
and erroneous. Could you please provide me with an updated version as
soon as possible and hopefully before Nick Read is called before the
Select Committee again. I will notify Mr Darren Jones MP and Chair of the
select committee of this FOI request.”
We can confirm that Post Office does hold the information you have requested.
However, this information will be provided in the next Annual Report and Accounts
(“
ARA”) for financial year 2022-2023 which will be published on the Post Office
website. Therefore, we are not obliged to provide information if the information held

is intended for future publication and as such this information is exempt under
section 22(1)(a) of the Act.
Section 22(1)(a) is a qualified exemption and therefore requires a public interest test
to be carried out. We recognise that there is a public interest in disclosure of
information concerning Post Office finances, as this helps promote transparency.
On the other hand, the Post Office aims to work to statutory timescales when
preparing ARA for publication, including a thorough review process, and to provide
this information now would divert Post Office resource at a time where it is already
stretched. Therefore, Post Office considers that the public interest lies in maintaining
the exemption and withholding the requested information, which will be publicly
available on finalisation of the 2022-23 ARA.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of this response, you do have a right to
request an internal review. You can do this by writing to the address above within
40 working days of receipt of this response stating your reasons for your internal
review request or alternatively, by emailing
