Post-16 Child Benefit Home Education after 16 if YP has special needs
Dear HM Revenue and Customs,
I am writing in relation to this web page https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-16-19 which has recently been amended to add "or after 16 if they have special needs" to the bullet point
"home education - if it started before your child turned 16"
Please could you provide me with the relevant extract of the decision makers guide or other operational manual or amended regulation which sets out what exactly is meant by "or after 16 if they have special needs".
Please could you also provide copies of forms sent to parents where this addition re post-16 SEN occurs.
Yours faithfully,
Fiona Nicholson

Dear Ms Nicholson,
Freedom of Information Act 2000 Acknowledgement
Thank you for your communication of 9th July which has been passed to
HMRC's Freedom of Information Team.
We have allocated the above reference which you should quote if you need
to contact us.
The Team will arrange for a reply to be sent to you which will either
comply with HMRC's obligations under Freedom of Information Act or, if we
think it's an enquiry that we don't need to address under the terms of the
Act, let you know why. If it is the latter we will, if possible, pass it
on to a more appropriate part of the Department for answer.
As you will appreciate, the coronavirus pandemic has provided
unprecedented challenges for Government Departments including HMRC. Over
the coming weeks our priorities are to provide critical existing and new
Public Services for Government to support customers during this difficult
time. As a result, resources may be diverted away from usual compliance or
information rights work. HMRC aims to respond to all FOIA Requests within
20 working days. If for whatever reason this timescale cannot be complied
with HMRC will, where possible, write to you explaining the reason for the
delay and providing an estimated time for response.
Yours sincerely
HMRC Freedom of Information Act Team
Dear [email address] on behalf of B&C FOI Team,

Dear Ms Nicholson,
We are writing in response to your request for information, received 9
July.
Yours sincerely,
HMRC Freedom of Information Team
Dear [email address] on behalf of B&C FOI Team,
Thank you very much for this response.
May I clarify whether the "statement" cited in your answer includes EHCPs (Education Health and Care Plans) as the legislation you signpost to says "a statement, plan or assessment" and the last statements were - supposedly - transferred to EHCPs by 1 April 2018.
Sorry, I am aware this may be a new request, but I am hoping not.
Yours sincerely,
Fiona Nicholson
