Henry Bremridge made this Freedom of Information request to Torbay Borough Council

The request was successful.

From: Henry Bremridge

26 October 2010

Dear Torbay Borough Council,

Could you please advise

1) As suggested by Mr Pickles, could you please advise when (if)
you will be making available a list of all expenditure over £500

http://www.communities.gov.uk/news/corpo...

2) Could you please provide some information on Portable Appliance
Testing. Ideally I would like to know the following:
- approximately how much you spend pa or per day in Portable
Appliance Testing,
- what your rules are for Portable Appliance Testing (how
frequently you ensure it is done, what proof of testing you
require, what steps you take to prevent employees / visitors
bringing in equipment that has not been tested)
- approximately how many appliances are tested pa or per-day)

I believe the relevant national site is the following
http://www.pat-testing.info/ins-test.htm
http://www.pat-testing.info/recallnotice...

Yours faithfully,

Henry Bremridge

Please read the Council's email disclaimer notification which is located at the end of the email message.

Dear Mr Bremridge

Further to your request received on 26 October 2010, I confirm that Torbay
Council has completed its search for the information that you requested.

This information is as follows:

1.         As suggested by Mr Pickles, could you please advise
when (if) you will be making available a list of all expenditure over
£500

            Following government guidelines, this information
will be available on our website from January 2011.

2.         Could you please provide some information on Portable
Appliance Testing. Ideally I would like to know the following:

            -  approximately how much you spend pa or per day
in Portable  Appliance Testing,

            -  what your rules are for Portable Appliance
Testing (how frequently you ensure it is done, what proof of testing you

require, what steps you take to prevent
employees / visitors bringing in equipment that has not been tested)

            - approximately how many appliances are tested pa or
per-day)

Facilities Management has the responsibility for the organization of PAT
testing with in the corporate buildings. There is no corporate budget held
for the service. Business units would cover any costs from there own
departmental budgets. The PAT testing is carried out on an annual basis
and is scheduled throughout the corporate buildings. The Senior
Hallkeepers hold a schedule so they are aware in advance and can book any
testing that is required.

The Hallkeepers are now fully trained in PAT testing and have been
provided with the required equipment but unfortunately do not currently
have the resource to cover the entire corporate estate. The cost for the
service is currently £1.50 per item. There are approximately 1200 staff
within the corporate buildings.

The procurement team is in the process of setting up a new framework
agreement for all M&E services to include PAT testing. It is envisaged
that the framework will be running by March 2011
