Dear Mr Tillman
Information & Data Protection Officer
Information Governance & Complaints Team

I am extremely grateful to you in providing me with information relating to Pont King Morgan Bridge, Carmarthen, unfortunately the "As Built H&S file" for the above mentioned bridge makes no reference to Lightning Protection.

I appreciate where you say that "the appendices run to approximately 6 lever arch files" however, somewhere within those files there should be keynote reference to Lightning Protection.

I would be grateful if focus could be directed towards specific documents within the files entitled "Lightning Protection".

Yours sincerely,

M Bowen

Dear Mr Bowen,
Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 15^th

In response we have consulted with the bridge designers, Ramboll, who have
commented “that there is no separate lightning protection system; as it is
an all steel footbridge, fully welded and supported upon massive
reinforced concrete foundations, which are effectively earthed i.e. we use
the natural components of the bridge. This is the usual approach for this
sort of structure and presents no undue risk to the users.”

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Tillman,

In order to draw closure on this matter I am compelled in the public interest and in the interest of public safety in calling on you to revisit where you concluded in having consulted with the bridge designers, Ramboll who claims that the structure presents no undue risk to the users.

I shall be grateful if you would obtain from the Bridge designers, Ramboll the Lightning Risk Assessment and in particular Touch Potential Risks for this structure.

Yours sincerely,

M Bowen
