Policy creation or amendments

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Lancashire Constabulary should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear FOI Department.

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information:

I would like you to provide me with information on the production of official police policies including those used by PSD and other police departments.

I want to know the process that must be followed for creating any new official policy, amending an existing policy and where official policies should be located for public access.

Please can you provide me with the approval process for any such policy changes and who authorises them.

To clarify, I am interested in any police policy that can be used in an official capacity or implemented in alignment with official police work and/or against the public.

Please can you provide any information how, if any, the police and the independent police complaints commission share policies.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under your Section 16 obligations, as to how I can refine my request to be included in the scope of the Act. In any case, if you can identify ways that my request could be refined please provide further advice and assistance to indicate this.

I look forward to your response within 20 working days, as stipulated by the Act.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me via email and I will be happy to clarify what I am asking for.

Best wishes,
Paul

Good Afternoon Paul,

As you submitted the same FOI request 2 days earlier from your personal email address, a response was sent to that email on 6th July 2017. If you wish for us to re-send that response to your personal email address then please let us know. This request on whatdotheyknow has not been dealt with separately as the request was identical and only 2 days apart. S.14 (2) of the Freedom of Information act states:

Where a public authority has previously complied with a request for information which was made by any person, it is not obliged to comply with a subsequent identical or substantially similar request from that person unless a reasonable interval has elapsed between compliance with the previous request and the making of the current request.
