Policies and standards for AI

James Sheppard made this Freedom of Information request to Office for Artificial Intelligence This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Office for Artificial Intelligence did not have the information requested.

Dear Office for Artificial Intelligence,

I have asked several government departments and bodies to publish their policies and standards for the use of AI. Some have responded that they have no such information. If you have lists of government departments that (1) have asked you for advice or help to develop such policies and standards (2) have adopted such policies and standards, please would you publish them. Please also publish (3) any advice you have given to Government regarding the formulation and adoption of such policies and standards by its individual departments and bodies.

For clarity, I am using here AI in the wide sense used by the proposed EU AI act.

Yours faithfully,

James Sheppard

Dear Office for Artificial Intelligence,
Ref: FOI2022/09364
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Office for Artificial Intelligence's handling of my FOI request 'Policies and standards for AI'.

I made a clear request for information and yet the response takes the position that no such request was made and no offer to clarify the request was made. I believe that this is not a valid response, and I request that you review my request for the following information
(1) A list of the government departments that have have the Office for Artificial Intelligence for advice;
(2) A list of the government departments that have adopted advice from the Office for Artificial Intelligence;
(3) The advice that the Office for Artificial Intelligence has given other government departments.

I ask the reviewer to consider whether my request for information was correctly handled; to confirm whether or not this information is held, and if held, to release it.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

James Sheppard
