Dear Lancashire Constabulary,

I wish to request the following information under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 'The Act'.

In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible. As you will understand, this may not be a definitive list of relevant information.

You should also be aware that it is a requirement of the act to respond within 20 working days, and failure to do so is a breach of the act.

1.0 Please provide a copy of the forces Disciplinary and Grievance procedures.
2.0 Please provide a copy of the procedure for a 'firearms incident' e.g. withdrawal of weapon, IPCC referal, removal from front-line duties, Suspension, etc
2.1 Please provide the same procedure for an incident involving the discharge of a 'taser'.
3.0 Please provide details of the model/make of the tasers which you use.
4.0 Please provide a copy of your forces authorisation to use tasers. (Home Office/Chief Constable)
5.0 How many times has an officer discharged a taser in the last 3 years.
5.1 Please provide a breakdown of the stats in a month by month basis.
6.0 How many officers of any rank have been suspended as a result of a firing a taser in the last 3 years.
6.1 Please provide a breakdown of the stats in a month by month basis.
7.0 How many officers have been the subject of disciplinary action (suspension is not a disciplinary action) for firing a taser in the last 3 months?
7.1 Please provide a breakdown of the stats in a month by month basis and the sanction.

You maybe aware the act provides a duty on yourselves to assist requesters such as myself.

I write in connection with your request for information dated the 17/10/2012 which was received by Lancashire Constabulary on the 18/10/2012. I note you seek access to the following information:

INFORMATION RELATING TO TASER USAGE POLICIES AND FORCE DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

Your request will now be considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, known hereafter as ‘the Act’. You should receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined in the Act, subject to the information not being exempt or containing a reference to a third party. In some circumstances Lancashire Constabulary may be unable to achieve this deadline. If this is likely, you will be informed and given a revised time-scale at the earliest opportunity.

There may be a fee payable for the retrieval, collation and provision of the information you request. If this is the case you will be informed and the 20 working day timescale will be suspended until we receive payment from you. If you choose not to make payment then your request will remain unanswered.

Some requests may also require either full or partial transference to another public authority in order to answer your query in the fullest possible way. Again, you will be informed if this is the case.

Your request was submitted at 23:43 on 17/10/2012. Any request submitted electronically after 17:00 (i.e. after close of business) or on a non-working day is considered to be received by the authority the following working day.

Your request was therefore received on the 18th October 2012. Twenty working days calculated in accordance with S.10 of the Act from that date is the 15th November 2012.

I cannot comment on any communication you have had from the website www.whatdotheyknow.com. As stated previously, you will receive a response to your request prior to close of business today. If you are dissatisfied following receipt of that response, complaints information will be included with it for your reference.
