Dear Avon and Somerset Constabulary #563527,

I am writing in response to your question regarding the 5th question in our FOI request. This basically means the time spent by officers following the initial training phase working with tutor constables to help them achieve IPS.

Yours faithfully,
Ms C.Moughton

Dear Ms Moughton

I write in connection with your request for information dated 1^st May
2019 under the Freedom of Information Act.

Specifically you asked for:

1.     The number of sickness days taken by all police officers within
your police force over the latest available calendar year.

2.     The number of sickness days taken by all police officers at the
rank of constable within your police force over the latest available
calendar year.

3.     The number of sickness days taken by all police officers in their
probation within your police force over the latest available calendar
year.

4.     The time taken for a probationary constable in your force to
achieve Independent Patrol Status (IPS), based on the latest available
data.

5.     The number of hours that probationary status constables in your
force spend on coached patrol and street duties, based on the latest
available data.

Clarification received 10^th May 2019:

I am writing in response to your question regarding the 5th question in
our FOI request. This basically means the time spent by officers following
the initial training phase working with tutor constables to help them
achieve IPS.

Our response:

Please see the number of sickness days taken by police officers from 1^st
January to 31^st December 2018 in the table below. The figure for
constables includes PCs, DCs, PC(P)s and temporary DCs.

Sickness
Days in
  2018
All Officers 25,482.66
All
Constables 20,902.48
Probationary
PCs 674.12

With reference to questions 4 and 5, the information requested is not
held. We do not record the time it takes for each student officer to
complete probation, neither do we record the amount of time spent with a
tutor before achieving independent patrol status, No student officer is
permitted out on patrol without a tutor until this has been achieved.

Yours sincerely
