Police training, illegal hunting prosecutions

Jean Roberts made this Freedom of Information request to Durham Constabulary

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Durham Constabulary,

Please could you answer the following FOI questions.

What % of Police Officers - excluding Wildlife Officers - have received training to recognise illegal hunting?

What % of Wildlife Officers have received formal training to recognise illegal hunting?

Who provided this training - as in their qualifications and capacity?

How long was the training course?

Policy & Procedures:
Are officers being asked to actively monitor hunts and look for evidence of illegal activities?

Do officers monitoring hunts have to 'declare an interest' if they hunt?

Finally-
How many successful prosecutions have you secured regarding the illegal killing of foxes/hares?

Yours faithfully,

Jean Roberts

Freedom of Information, Durham Constabulary

Good morning,

I am writing to offer you advice and assistance in relation to the request below.
First are you seeking current information or information in relation to a period of time.
Second please be aware that this Force records officer numbers but does not record percentage figures. There is no obligation under the FOIA to create data. Therefore we can provide total number of officers, total number of officers who have undergone training, the number of Wildlife officers, the number of Wildlife officer who have undergone training.
Third on prosecutions the information is not easily retrievable as this information is collected and supplied by the Courts. HM Courts and Tribunal Service record conviction and sentencing information and provide results to the police so that the Police National Computer can be updated.
In light of the above would you please clarify and refine the request. Unfortunately we are not able to proceed with the request until we have the clarified and refined request.

Kind regards
