I write in connection with regards to your request received in this office on 21st January. Please accept our apologies for the late response due to staffing issues. I note you seek the following:

Police Stations containing custody areas. Both Staffed and reserve locations Number of cells and detention rooms at each location Front Counter opening hours Direct contact information for the front desk or custody suite contact person.

We have looked at the content of your request and must advise you that we consider the Freedom of information Act 2000 Exemption 21 (Information Accessible by other means) is engaged in relation to this request this is a class based and absolute exemption, requiring no prejudice or public interest to be considered.
If you visit the Cleveland Police website, https://www.cleveland.police.uk/
and in the search function type in nearest police stations and put Cleveland in it will open a page with the all the information Cleveland police publish on this matter.

Any stations closed since 2010
a) Permanently closed and/or mothballed;
November 2013 - York Road (neighbourhood office)
October 2014 - Yarm Police Station
November 2014 - Jutland (neighbourhood office)
February 2015 - Miers Avenue (neighbourhood office)
August 2018 - Ladgate Lane (Police HQ)
b) Opened
July 2018 - Community Safety Hub - Hemlington

In relation to custody suites we have Middlehaven Custody Office which is our main custody office and Kirkleatham which is our reserve custody office.
Middlehaven
This has 50 Cells and 1x holding room.
The front desk operates 8am until 8pm – outside of these hours there is an intercom system to contact 101, 999 or the custody office directly.
There are no direct contacts.
Kirkleatham
This has 6 Cells and 1x holding room.
The front desk operates 8am until 8pm – outside of these hours there is an intercom system to contact 101 or 999.
There are no direct contacts.
The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.

If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The APP College of Policing guidance states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced.
