Police Referrals to Mental Health Rather Than Victim Support ?

The request was refused by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Dear Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea,

How many people have complained about being referred by police to Mental Health Professionals for 'Assessment' in response to reporting crime?

I would have thought 'we are sorry you have been a victim of crime, here is the number for victim support' would be a standard response rather than referring someone for a Mental Health Assessment?

Why would they do this act of malice against victims of crime?

How many complaints of this nature have you recorded in the last 20 years or so since Commander Dizaei and his staff (presumably his colleagues still have been/are in charge at Kensington Police Stations) please?

Yours Sincerely,

Elizabeth Lucy R

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is a note concerning the events of the evening of Wednesday 5th October 2005.

I visited Ms Elizabeth ****, who has been very well known to me for a number of years. Ms **** is disabled, housebound and currently unable to get around her flat without extreme difficulty.

Ms **** suggested that I could park my car for a short while at the back of the block of flats, since there was plenty of space. This was a reasonable suggestion, as my visit was in response to an emergency and I was unable to find alternative parking.

On arrival, every parking space was vacant, and I just parked in the nearest one.

On leaving Ms ****, early evening, I found that my car had been blocked in by another vehicle deliberately, by parking across the rear of my car. This despite the fact that all the other spaces were still vacant.

I was horrified to then be confronted by a young woman holding a baby and an older woman screaming abuse. The older woman was clearly the driver of the other car and angry that I had parked in ‘her’ space. The two women refused to accept our apologies and explanation, and refused to move the other car. They continued to scream obscenities and direct threats of physical violence toward me and Ms ****, screaming in my face so closely that I received spittle and smoke in my eyes and was nearly burnt by their cigarettes. Throughout this encounter, the young woman was holding a baby, and I was horrified that she would subject a young baby to such a terrifying scene; quite apart from smoking in the baby’s face, she was screaming obscenities and threats in the baby’s face also. Frankly I was quite terrified myself and fully anticipated that the younger woman would lose control completely and hit me, as she was threatening to do.

Eventually the car blocking me in was moved, and I was able to leave but I was deeply shocked, and very concerned for the safety and welfare of my friend Elizabeth ****, who is **** ********, that she should have to endure such appalling behaviour from her neighbours.

I can be contacted at the address above for further information. ''
