Police officer mental health

We're waiting for Amy Hale to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Derbyshire Constabulary

I would like to request data for how many officers have had to take time away from their duties with mental health related issues - specifically with stress, 'burnout', or depression. I would also request data for how many hours of policing this equates to across the force, and how long the average time off is e.g. 20 hours, 80 hours etc. I would like to know how this compares to other reasons for taking sick leave, such as physical injury on / off duty. If you have this information, would it be possible to look at the last 10 years of data, if this is available, to assess the prevalence of mental health issues over time.

Is any research being carried out into this, and what efforts are being made to assist officers with mental health issues to return to work?

Yours faithfully,
Amy Hale

Dear Ms Hale,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

I write in connection with your request for information as shown below.

I would like to request data for how many officers have had to take time
away from their duties with mental health related issues - specifically
with stress, 'burnout', or depression. I would also request data for how
many hours of policing this equates to across the force, and how long the

to look at the last 10 years of data, if this is available, to assess the
prevalence of mental health issues over time.

Is any research being carried out into this, and what efforts are being
made to assist officers with mental health issues to return to work?
