Police interviews

Ben Quinn made this Freedom of Information request to York Minster Police as part of a batch sent to 49 authorities
This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).
This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. Although not legally required to do so, we would have expected York Minster Police to have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sir / Madam,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

i) Do you record whether a solicitor or legal representative is present in person or gives advice remotely (via a video or phone link) to suspects in police stations?

If yes, please provide a breakdown of all police interviews from April 2020 to December 2020 by whether the solicitor or other legal representative attended in-person, whether they gave advice remotely, or whether the interview was conducted without any solicitor or legal representative

(ii) Please provide all policy documentation in relation to how your force facilitates remote legal advice in police stations, including ensuring client confidentiality.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Quinn
