Police Injury Pensions - Reviews

The request was successful.

Dear Gloucestershire Constabulary,

Under regulation 37 of the Police (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006 a police pension authority has a power of discretion to conduct reviews of police injury pensions 'at such intervals as may be suitable.'

For the period of 1st January 2011 to 30th September 2014:

1) Please tell me how many reviews of police injury pensions were held by Gloucestershire Constabulary police pension authority.

2) Please tell me the collated results of all reviews held, in the form of data showing;

a) how many resulted in an increase in the injury pension due to be paid,

b) how many resulted in a decrease in the injury pension due to be paid,

c) how many resulted in no revision of the injury pension due to be paid.

Yours faithfully,

Sarah Wilmcote

Gloucestershire has not held any reviews of police injury pensions from January 2011 to the end of September 2014.

It seems that force correctly interprets the Regulations, in that they understand they grant a wide power of discretion to the police pension authority over whether or when to hold reviews.

There is no 'duty' to review - the police pension authority can decide not to review.
