Police forces professional standards

We're waiting for C Hughes to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Prime Minister's Office,

Public bodies, particularly police force's Professional Standards Departments, instinctively lie to cover-up wrongdoing.

Members of the public who pay the wages of those responsible suffer horrendously for many years and in most instances for the rest of their lives as in the vast majority of cases those responsible officials are never made accountable for their cover-ups.

In a minority of cases, for example, if there is press interest, the responsible official who is exposed for corruption can never publicly apologise enough. However, when the need next arises the lies and cover-ups start over.

It can not only be the vast majority of the public who are aware of this fact. The government must know also.

Are there any plans in the pipeline to deter this kind of corruption, for example, through holding officials accountable with the threat of a custodial sentence?

Yours faithfully,

C Hughes
