Police federation
Dear Avon and Somerset Constabulary,
I would like to know if the Avon and Somerset branch of the federation is open to freedom of information requests.
If the answer is positive, how do I make a request to them, I.e is it through the Constabulary or through their own portal.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Lynsey Whittaker

Thank you for letting me know. Any idea when they will be subject to FOIAs?

Unfortunately, I'd be very surprised if they ever will be. They are private organisations.

On 12 March the Home Secretary laid Regulations to reform the Police Federation of England and Wales. The Home Secretary also made a written statement to Parliament which . . . reaffirmed her intention to bring forward proposals to extend the Freedom of Information Act to cover the Police Federation. This would require a change in primary legislation. The Home Secretary intends to fulfil this commitment as soon as possible.
