Police data exchange

The request was successful.

Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,

1. Can a disqualified driver still renew their driving license (for the purpose of using it as ID)?

2. If DVLA does have the power to refuse to renew a driving license, are the only grounds it can do so if there is a court order to justify it? Or are there any statutory grounds DVLA can refuse to renew a driving license for a legitimate customer without requiring a court order? If so, what are the grounds?

3. Is there any mechanism or watch list that DVLA has where the police can request to be notified when a customer contacts DVLA to renew their driving license?

4. When a customer updates their address on the driving license, how long until this updated information is reflected as updated on the Police National Computer? Or is the address of the driver record not stored on the Police National Computer?

Yours faithfully,

Roger Davison
