Dear North Yorkshire Police,

Hope you are well. I was just getting in touch to see if you had any of the follow data available for a project we are working on.

1) The total number of 999 calls received by your police force in each individual sequential year 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

2) For those 999 calls where a police officer(s) were deployed from your force, what was the average time from the call being received in your control room, to the officer(s) reaching their deployment destination, in the years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

3) For those 999 calls which your force gave a high priority classification to, and where a police officer(s) were deployed, what was the average time from the call being received in your control room, to the officer(s) reaching their deployment destination, in the years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Good afternoon,

I have looked at your request for information, and unfortunately must advise that we cannot answer it in full.

Section 12(1) applies to your request as the cost of complying with your request is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of identifying and retrieving any relevant information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Our information retrieval process generally relies on a computerised report which captures any information recorded upon the surface of a record or within specified fields. Where relevant information is held deeper in the record, or outside of a specified field, a manual assessment is usually required to retrieve that information.

The system used to extract 999 performance data only holds data from September 2011 onwards. Any information prior to this date would require a manual read of all recorded incidents, which would exceed the time limit allowed under the Act. Furthermore, outside of the past 2 years, historic time attendance data is not held, therefore this would also require a manual review of all incidents.

Pursuant to Section 16 of the Act I am required to offer you advice and assistance with regarding to refining your request to within the ‘appropriate limit’ (time/cost limit). You may wish to refine your request to ask for the number of 999 calls received since September 2011. You may also wish to refer to the following published information;

Dear Liz,
Many thanks for your response and for pointing me towards the relevant information.

As you have suggested I have refined my request.

It'd be great if we could get the total numbers of 999 calls made to North Yorkshire police in the years 2016
and 2017?

Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,

Hannah O'Rourke
