Freedom of Information, Gambling Commission

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested details of all registered national lottery retailer locations within Nottingham city centre (postcodes beginning NG1) between 1994 and 2020, including the dates on which each licence was issued and/or terminated for each location.

I can confirm that whilst we hold some data on the total number of licensed UK national lottery retailers by year and by postcode, we do not regularly collect data regarding addresses or the date on which each licence was issued and/or terminated for each location, as this is not a requirement to fulfil our regulatory functions. This information may be held by Camelot as the operator of the National Lottery.

There have been occasions, in previous years, where a list of National Lottery retailers has been obtained by the Commission.

It should be noted that the FOIA can only be used to request access to recorded information held by a public authority (such as the Gambling Commission) at the time the request is made. It does not place any obligation on that authority retrieve anything further to what is already held.

The only versions of this information held by the Commission have previously been disclosed. Section 21 of the FOIA provides that information is exempt where it is reasonably accessible elsewhere.
