Please provide all information on why Joanne Lewis, a Higher Officer at the Tax Credit Office in Preston (HMRC) was awarded an MBE after being found guilty of making false sexual allegations.

The request was refused by Cabinet Office.

Dear Cabinet Office,

An internal Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs investigation found that Joanne Lewis, a Higher Officer based at the Tax Credit Office in Preston had made false sexual allegations against an Asian Colleague, who had been charged with being an extremist for heckling the British National Party (BNP) at an anti racist protest in Burnley. Despite this, Mrs Lewis was awarded an MBE in the 2011 honors list. Under the Freedom of Information Act, please provide all information which led to Mrs Lewis being awarded an MBE after making false sexual allegtions.

Yours faithfully,

Andi Ali

Dear Cabinet Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Cabinet Office's handling of my FOI request 'Please provide all information on why Joanne Lewis, a Higher Officer at the Tax Credit Office in Preston (HMRC) was awarded an MBE after being found guilty of making false sexual allegations.'.

I am requesting this for the following reasons. 1) The is a massive public interest in this case. Miss Lewis is a Senior Civil Servant and public official. Given this and given the fact that an internal HMRC report found Miss Lewis had made false sexual allegations in order to achieve a promotion, then the public have a right to know how such a person can then be awarded an MBE and for what reason? Was she awarded it for making false sexual allegations for example?

2) I am now asking for personal information, just for the reason Miss Lewis was awarded an MBE.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

Andi Ali
