Playgrounds closures, sell offs and playground budgets

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request information on the following:
1. How many children’s playgrounds were managed by the local authority in each year from 2009-10?
2. How many children’s playgrounds have been closed in each year since 2009-10?
3. How many children’s playgrounds have been opened in each year since 2009-10?
4. How much local authority money has been spent on children’s playgrounds in each year since 2009-10?
5. How many children’s playgrounds are proposed for closure within the next year (ie 2019-20)?
5. How much do you propose to spend on children's playgrounds in 2019-20?
6. How many children's playgrounds have been sold off to private buyers since 2009-10, who were the buyers and how much were they sold for?

Please find below, Sheffield City Council’s response to your request:
How many children’s playgrounds were managed by the local authority in
each year from 2009-10?
2009 – Housing 22 Parks 114
2010 – Housing 22 Parks 116
2011 – Housing 27 Parks 113
2012 – No inspection, 2011 was done in December & 2013 in January so there
were only 13 months between these inspections
2013 – Housing 24 Parks 112
2014 – Housing 30 Parks 113
2015 – Housing 33 Parks 111
2016 – Housing 31 Parks 110
2017 – Housing 30 Parks 112
2018 – Housing 28 Parks 114
2019 – Housing 27 Parks 117
These numbers are calculated from the annual inspections, discrepancies
from years will be due to sites being re developed so they were
temporarily closed.
How many children’s playgrounds have been closed in each year since
2009-10?
3 playgrounds in total. We cannot break this information down because, as
noted in the above statement, some were only closed for refurbishment.

Broadfield Road 2009/10
Loxley Rec playground 11/12
Heathlands Playground 2011/12
Burngreave Rec 2012/13
Arbourthorne Pond Playground (although there was previously a playground
on this site however not for some years), 12/13
Thorpe Green 2013/14 (there hadn’t been one here for at least 5-years)
Sycamore Park (Cairns Rd) 2018/19
Toddler Playground Norfolk Heritage Park 18/19
How much local authority money has been spent on children’s playgrounds in
each year since 2009-10?
2009/10 - £970k
2010/11 - £754K
2011/12 – £630K
2012/13 – £488K
2013/14 – £256k
2014/15 – £292k
2015/16 - £90k
2016/17 - £60k
2017/18 – £179k
2018/19 - £676K
How many children’s playgrounds are proposed for closure within the next
year (ie 2019-20)?

How much do you propose to spend on children's playgrounds in 2019-20?
For the next financial year we are still planning all of our playgrounds
improvement programme; however, we have already approved £380k of
investment on sites across Sheffield, and works will include playground
improvements.
How many children's playgrounds have been sold off to private buyers since
2009-10, who were the buyers and how much were they sold for?
