Planning round Submissions
Dear University of Cambridge,
Every year all departments, institutions and bodies of any note will make planning round submissions for funds for the forthcoming year(s).
Please could I have copies of these for all of these groups for 2009-2010. If there is any doubt as to whether a particular group's submission should be included then you can assume that it should.
Could you also tell me when I can expect all the submissions for 2010-2011 to be available so that I can request these?
Yours faithfully,
Julian King

Dear University of Cambridge,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of University of Cambridge's handling of my FOI request 'Planning round Submissions'.
You have rejected my request for information for all institutions that have not already voluntarily made the information available. This rejection has been made on the basis of potential prejudice to the commercial interests of the University.
It is simply not credible that all other institutions' planning round submissions contain information that is legitimately exempt. It is similarly not credible that all aspects of all other planning round submissions are validly exempt in their entirety.
Also much of the information would be useful in contrast and comparison to the already regularly published "Financial Management Information for the year" as published in the Cambridge University Reporter.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,
Julian King

Dear Mr King,
Please find enclosed a letter from Dr Clark regarding your request for a review.
Dr Clark has determined that some of the information which you have requested is to be disclosed. However, I regret that it is not reasonably practicable to provide this information to you in electronic form since the information in question comprises several hundred pages.
Hard copies of the documents can be made available for collection from the University's Old Schools reception in Trinity Lane, Cambridge, or alternatively, if you provide an address, they can be posted or (if necessary) couriered to you. Please let me know which of these options you would prefer and I will make the appropriate arrangements.

Dear FOI,
I am unclear as to how you are planning on providing me with the information on paper in a way that makes it impractical to provide electronically. I am guessing that you intend to photocopy the documents? Leaving aside the fact that the University will undoubtedly have these documents in electronic format already it is also just as easy to scan these documents in as it is to photocopy them. I would like the documents electronically please.
I may be taking the response up with the information commissioner, but before I do I would like to see what is being released in case I misunderstand how much information is being made available.
Yours sincerely,
Julian King
Dear Mr King,
I write further to your email of 31 January.

Dear FOI,
Is there any reason it can't be sent to this email address? I appreciate it will have to be split up, but I imagine that each submission will be easily small enough to not cause any problems to any email systems.
Yours sincerely,
Julian King
Dear Mr King,
Please find enclosed some of the information requested. Due to the size of the files, the rest of the documentation will follow in 12 subsequent emails.
