Recent media reports suggest that HMO properties require planning permission to be
operated as such.
What policy does Tower Hamlets have with regard to planning permission on HMO
properties, for both Mandatory and Additional schemes?
Is there a date when planning permission for HMOs was required and what is the
councils policy if an HMO was registered prior to any requirement?
Does Tower Hamlets require planning permission for all registered HMO properties?
Planning permission is needed for any new HMO with up to 6 people sharing, created
after 1 January 2021.
Planning permission is always needed for a new HMO with more than 6 people sharing.
