For the 2022/23 year:

What is the average time for planning permission for residential developments?
81 days - please note that this is for all 'Householder' applications received by the Local Authority.

What is the average time for planning permission for one residential dwelling?
148 days - please note that this is for all 'Minor Dwellings' applications and will include applications for up to 9 dwellings.

What is the average time for planning permission for industrial buildings?
Unable to provide this as we do not have a development type specifically for industrial buildings.

What is the average time for planning permission for agricultural buildings?
Unable to provide this as we do not have a development type specifically for agricultural buildings.

What is the overall average time for planning permission?
89 days

You can also view the Planning Register on the Vale of Glamorgan Council's website where you could use the proposal field to search for specific words e.g. industrial or agricultural. This will generate a list of applications where you can find the validated date and the decision date to work out the time taken to determine, for any applications that are of interest.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original letter and should be sent to:
