Planning Costs for Town Hall Move

The request was refused by Scarborough Borough Council.

Dear Scarborough Borough Council,

I would like to know the full costs incurred for planning the Town Hall Accommodation move from St. Nicholas Street to Dunslow Road in Eastfield. This should include the following:

How many hours have been spent by Council Employees planning the move to Eastfield. This should include time spent organising public and staff consultation, focus groups, preparing internal documentation, participating in internal meetings about the move, costs for any external meetings and any other costs relevant for planning the move. Please put a cost to the tax payer on those hours.

How much has been paid to any third parties for services such as helping to organise the consultation, preparing surveyor reports, preparing economic impact assessments, preparing feasibility studies and any other monies paid out that are relevant to the Town Hall move.

I realise that some of this might be lengthy, but the public needs to know how much this failed plan has cost us. Hopefully you will have an electronic timesheet system which will help you gauge staff costs quickly. If there are some resignations due to the failed plan then please contact me as I don't want to put a burden onto the Council if the people responsible for this mess have already left.

Yours faithfully,
Tim Thorne
