John H Hutchinson

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Today, we learned of the Government's overhaul of the planning system, which proposes the establishment of "growth", "renewal" and "protected" areas within local authority areas.

If land is designated for "renewal", councils have to look favourably on new developments.

In "growth" areas, new homes, hospitals and schools will be allowed automatically.

Areas of outstanding natural beauty and the green belt will come under the "protected" category.

Additionally, and somewhat confusingly, "Beautiful buildings" will be fast-tracked through the system.

Robert Jenrick, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, said on BBC R4 "Today" programme (06/08/2020) that the designation of areas is to be decided by local consultation.

How will WMBC conduct its consultation, please?

Yours faithfully,

John H Hutchinson

Dear Mr Hutchinson

In response to your question "Is Council saying that it will not be seeking the comments of its Taxpayers in this public consultation, please?", please note this it is a Government consultation, not local authority. Residents should reply directly to the Government if they wish to make any comments themselves.

Yours sincerely
