Dear Zia

Further to your recent request for information, the University can provide
a partial response as follows.

1) the number of students caught cheating/plagiarising over the last five
years, with a breakdown for each year

Records relating to plagiarism are not held centrally but at a devolved
faculty level typically on individual student files. Methods of data
collection vary from faculty to faculty and it is therefore not possible
to provide a full overview of all formal cases of plagiarism investigated
across the University or in the breakdown of students as requested. In
addition, details relating to first offences which are typically dealt
with informally are not recorded uniformly.

However, the following data provides a snapshot of formal cases of
plagiarism in 2010/2011, 2011/12 and 2012/13.
