Dear Mike Robinson,

I am writing in response to your request for information, received 1
August.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of the Department for Work and Pensions' handling of my FOI request 'PIP: referrals for advice from decision Makers following assessment'.

Thank you for your decision with regard to the matter of my FOI request regarding referrals for advice following assessments both to manager and Medical Services. I am sorry that this was refused in this instance on the grounds of administrative cost. Given that the DWP usually respond to such requests by suggesting restrictions to the scope to nake the request more financially viable to meet, I assume that it has been decided that there are no conceivable restrictions which would make the request viable.

I am surprised that there have been no exercises or internal reviews to measure the efficacy of the process since it would appear to be in the public interest to judge if the exercise was being used to sparingly or whether it had insufficient benefit to merit its use. I therefore feel that provision of such information is of value.

In lieu of information in the format I have suggested details of such internal reviews/exercises would suffice.

Alternatively, if the information requested could be requested for:
(i) a single shorter future or retrospective period (say a fortnight) and/or
(ii) only the outcomes (a to c in the original request) in points 2 (The number of referrals by Decision-makers to Medical Services for Clairification or advice on the HCP report) and 3 (The number of referrals by Decision-makers to DWP Managers/supervisors for Clairification or advice on the HCP report)
this would be sufficient

If it is felt that any of the above options would would be financially managable please treat this as the request for a futher Freedom of Information request or, if a further request is required , it would be helpful if suggestions could be made as the limitations to the scope of the data which would be required in order to mean that some information could be provided.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Yours faithfully,

Mike Robinson
