The request was refused by Imperial College London.

Dear Imperial College London,

I am requesting the grades achieved by post qualification applicants for Physics and whether an offer was made or not, a summary of the percentage of offers made to post qualification candidates and percentage of offers made to candidates with at least 3A*s achieved. In regards to the years 2019, 2018 and 2017.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Clark,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act request, below. We are not
sure what is meant by the term "post qualification applicants" nor what "a
summary of the percentage of offers made" would be.

Dear IMPFOI,

Sorry for not being clear enough.

By "post qualification" I am referring to applicants who have already earned their A-Level or equivalent grades and have applied to study Physics at Imperial. In addition to that, the percentage of those applicants who have completed their exams and have received an offer to study Physics.

I hope this is more clear.

Yours sincerely,

James Clark

Dear Mr Clark,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act request, please find the College’s response below.

The College does not distinguish between pre or post qualification applicants. The costs of locating and extracting the information would exceed the “appropriate limit” under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act of £450 or 18 hours of staff time. We have estimated that it would take over 18 hours to individually assess each application for the time frame outlined above. We are therefore not able to provide the information that you have requested.

If you are unhappy with the way that we have handled your request, you can ask us to conduct a review. Please make your representation in writing within 40 days of the date you received this response. If you remain dissatisfied with how Imperial College has handled your request, you may then approach the Information Commissioner’s Office.
