This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Gambling Commission did not have the information requested.

Dear Gambling Commission,

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information:

Could you tell me the number of sales of both physical and online scratch cards for the past five years (up until December 2020)?

Could you also break down this information into monthly categories (x number of physical scratch cards in April 2019)?

It would be great if you could provide this information in an excel spreadsheet, if possible.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

Yours faithfully,

Chloé Meley

Freedom of Information, Gambling Commission

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested the number of sales of both physical and online scratch cards for the past five years (up until December 2020)? Further to this, a break down of this information into monthly categories (x number of physical scratch cards in April 2019)?

Having completed a check of our records, I can confirm that the Commission does not collect data on the number of scratchcards purchased online or from retail vendors. Therefore, we are unable to provide any information in relation to this request.

The Commission is responsible for licensing and regulating the National Lottery, ensuring the interests of participants are protected and maximising returns for Good Causes; we do not collect details on the split you have requested between retail and online scratchcards.

This information is processed by Camelot as the operator of the National Lottery, but it is not information we are required to collect in support of our regulatory functions.

Kind regards
