PHV licensed vehicle security

Dear Bedford Borough Council,

Could you please provide me with the following three bits of information:-

1) Does your authority make is mandatory that PHV (taxi drivers) have CCTV in their vehicles whilst transporting a customer
2) How many licensed vehicles are registered to your authority
3) Since 1st January 2020 how many complaints, and/or licensing reviews, have taken place that include accusations (confirmed or unconfirmed) of any theft, criminal damage, sexual violence or physical violence. Please provide this per year (ie 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023)

Q1) Does your authority make is mandatory that PHV (taxi drivers) have CCTV in their vehicles whilst transporting a customer?

No it does not.

Q2) How many licensed vehicles are registered to your authority?

As of today's date, 573 private hire vehicles and 66 hackney carriage vehicles are currently registered with the authority.

3) Since 1st January 2020 how many complaints, and/or licensing reviews, have taken place that include accusations (confirmed or unconfirmed) of any theft, criminal damage, sexual violence or physical violence. Please provide this per year (ie 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023)

We have had no such complaints or reviews since 1 January 2020.
