Photos from road surveillance programme

The request was partially successful.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

Please refer to

https://www.cleanhighways.co.uk/wp-conte...

On page 21 it says:

For transects which are surveyed only once, the other observation will be provided by Highways England via their regular road surveillance programme. All data collected by Highways England is photo imagery and precisely geo referenced. They collect photo imagery data for the entire road network, including slip roads, and so the contractor can be confident that the locations they choose to sample will also be covered by Highways England.

Please let me have copies of recent images (two in each case will suffice) of from your road surveillance programme showing the condition of the verges at:

1. The end (or near the end) of the west bound off-slip road of the A40 at J1 of the M40

2. The end (or near the end) of the south bound off-slip road of the A404 ( the link road between M40 and M4) at its junction with the A4155 Marlow Road

Yours faithfully,

Peter Silverman

Dear OPSSESecretariat,

DEFRA have suggested that their reference to:

"For transects which are surveyed only once, the other observation will be provided by Highways England via their regular road surveillance programme. All data collected by Highways England is photo imagery and precisely geo referenced. They collect photo imagery data for the entire road network, including slip roads, and so the contractor can be confident that the locations they choose to sample will also be covered by Highways England".

is a reference to the mobile imagery data described here:

http://www.geostore.com/highwaysengland/...

Could you please revisit my information request with this in mind.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Silverman

Dear OPSSESecretariat,

Please thank your HE colleague Russel Brooks (07753 223895) for calling me today.

He was familiar with / responsible for (?) the following HE procedure:
----------------
Mobile Imagery Data
Description
The high definition images are taken by four cameras; forward, left, right and rear. The resolution is between 1.5 and 5 Megapixels per image. These geospatially referenced images are captured at 2M intervals providing a more comprehensive imagery dataset that can be viewed in a video sequence.

The images are automatically redacted (blurred) to remove vehicle registration mark plates and faces as they include personal data and are therefore covered by the Data Protection Act. Users will need to check that Vehicle Registration Mark plates and faces have been successfully obscured; if not then it is the user’s responsibility to ensure the personal data is obscured.

-------------

He is endeavouring to fulfil my request using this data source. I explained that it was being treated under the EIRs and therefore there is no cost exemption.

He said the task would be made easier if I supplied Easting and Nording co-ordinates which I will endeavour to do. He said he would ring me again next week.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Silverman

Dear OPSSESecretariat,

Here are the co-ordinates.

Pleas supply photos Front Left Right Rear for the 2 metre locations either side of these co-ordinates which I have taken from Google Maps

1. The end (or near the end) of the west bound off-slip road of the A40 at J1 of the M40

51.560636, -0.492726

2. The end (or near the end) of the south bound off-slip road of the A404 ( the link road between M40 and M4) at its junction with the A4155 Marlow Road

51.581813, -0.756476

Thanks

Yours sincerely,

Peter Silverman
