Dear Thames Water,

I want to know if you have found PFAS in tap water supplied to residents within a 10-mile radius of Heathrow Airport.

Specifically:

1) How often do you test the tap water supplied to domestic properties in this area?
2) Over what period of time have you found PFAS in domestic tap water in this area?
3) How many separate PFAS have you found in drinking water in parts per trillion in this area?
4) What level of PFAS have you found in parts per trillion in this area?
5) Was the DWI notified re. any of these incidents?
6) What steps are you taking to remove PFAS from the domestic water supplies in the affected area?

Yours faithfully,

Chris Menon

I have just noticed this request - and it appears that there has been no response.

Of interest might be the comments Thames Water have made to people (including me) who responded to their recent consultation on their "Water Resources Management Plan" which included proposals to abstract more water from the Thames above Teddington Weir and replace the volume in the Thames by adding treated effluent from the Mogden sewage works.

They replied "Water quality monitoring has been undertaken over the last three years analysing >350 different determinands (including >50 difference PFAS) each month, including at Mogden STW which will provide the source water. Therefore we fully understand the composition of the source water including PFAS, and are now working on the design of the tertiary treatment plant to appropriately treat this (as mentioned above)."

I suspect they mean different PFAS rather than difference.
