Dear West Sussex County Council,

What hourly rates does the council currently use for calculating Direct Payments for someone assessed with a personal budget for their care worker support for the the levels of support defined as 1:1 hours and Core hours? What method is used in subsequent years to adjust this amount, for example are any recognised indices used such as price or wage inflation ?

Yours faithfully,

Howard Kerr

Dear Mr Kerr

I refer to your request below, which has been dealt with under the Freedom
of Information Act 2000.

We have now completed a search for the information which you requested and
I confirm the Authority holds information relevant to the request.

You asked:-

What hourly rates does the council currently use for calculating Direct
Payments for someone assessed with a personal budget for their care worker
support for the the levels of support defined as 1:1 hours and Core
hours?  What method is used in subsequent years to adjust this amount, for
example are any recognised indices used such as price or wage inflation ?

Please find the response in red as follows:-

West Sussex County Council Adults’ Services does not set Personal Budgets
(including Direct Payments) via an hourly rate. Instead a Resource
Allocation System is used to set an indicative budget based on the
eligible outcomes the individual requires support to meet – the actual
Personal Budget is finalised once the care and/or support plan is agreed
with the individual taking into account how the Direct Payment will be
utilised to meet eligible outcomes.

Adjustments to Personal Budgets, for reasons such as wage inflation, are
taken in consideration during adults’ annual reviews
