Permanent recruitment
Dear Northampton College,
Can you please provide me with your spend for permanent recruitment over the last 12 months split by advertising, agency fees (please confirm agency used), transfer fees, training costs for new staff etc.
Yours faithfully,
Lucas Hill
Hi Lucas
I have been passed your freedom of information request about permanent
recruitment to complete for Northampton College.
Can you please clarify a couple of points for me before I can send you the
information:
· Please could you tell me reasons why you need this information
and what you will be using the information for once provided?
· You requested information about ‘transfer fees’ can you tell me
what you mean by this?
· What do you mean by ‘training costs’ as we carry out mandatory
safeguarding and diversity training but this is an online package which
does not have individual costs identified, the majority of training staff
would carry out in their first 12 months would be in house so would also
not have any identifiable costs?
· Lastly what does ‘etc’ mean?
If you could please email me direct with the answers to the above I will
respond to you within the 20 working days allowed from the date I receive
your reply.
Regards

Dear Mandy Dainty,
Please see below the answers to your questions
· Please could you tell me reasons why you need this information
and what you will be using the information for once provided? - I am collating permanent recruitment spend UK wide to se if there are trends in areas
· You requested information about ‘transfer fees’ can you tell me
what you mean by this? - Transfer fees relate to paying an agency a fee to take on one of their candidates.
· What do you mean by ‘training costs’ as we carry out mandatory
safeguarding and diversity training but this is an online package which
does not have individual costs identified, the majority of training staff
would carry out in their first 12 months would be in house so would also
not have any identifiable costs? - zero costs is fine
· Lastly what does ‘etc’ mean? - any other extra spend you associate with permanent recruitment.
Yours sincerely,
Lucas Hill
Hi Lucas
Please see below the answers to your FOI request for information about recruitment costs to recruit permanent staff at Northampton College from August 2014 to today.
Advertising costs = £63,848
Interview testing costs = £1799
Disclosure & Barring Service checks = £5896
Agency fees = £38,169
Agencies used to recruit permanent staff were:
Boston Rose
Edgware Associates
Dakota 6
Impact Recruitment
JJ Fox
Regarding training costs, as I stated previously we do have mandatory training that all new staff need to complete within their first 6 months of training (Safeguarding and Diversity courses) however these are online packages that we pay an annual subscription for and the staff that are logged as completing these courses are a mixture of new staff and existing staff (all staff need to refresh this training every 3 years) so it would not be possible to work out the costs. Also we carry out some face to face safeguarding sessions which are presented by our own staff so again we could not work out costs.
I hope this answers all of your questions but if you need anything further please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Regards
