Dear Environment Agency,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000/ Environmental Information Regulations 2004. I would sincerely appreciate your assistance in obtaining information on the following to help me with my research:

Please provide gas emission figures in tonnes for Perenco’s Kimmeridge well operating under the ML5 Licence that has occurred as a direct result of gas venting (Eg. not the gas volume produced for commercial purposes), with estimates of the amount of methane and carbon dioxide for each emission. I would also appreciate the inclusion of any gas leaks in the data.

Please include the date/time period of the vent/leak emission and the estimates for methane and carbon dioxide in an Excel spreadsheet format.

I would kindly request the above information for 2018 and 2019 to the current date or as recent as reasonably possible.

If any of the above information is already available, please direct me to where I can access this.
I would be exceedingly grateful for any and all help with the above queries and would like to express my deep thanks in advance for your hard work in assisting me to obtain this information.

If you encounter any problems with my request or require clarification/ want to discuss my queries further, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Warm regards,

Adam Parker

Mr Parker, thank you for your enquiry, which we received on 25 August 2019

RE: Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(FOIA) / Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR)

This information is provided as part of the pollution inventory return and
data up to 2017 is available on the [1]www.gov.uk site.

The reporting date for the 2019 figure is March 2020, so we do not have
this data yet.

For 2019 Perenco reported 206 tonnes of methane and 206 tonnes of
Non-methyl volatile organics. The figure is based on a calculation of gas
to oil ratio multiplied by the oil production from the well site. Carbon
dioxide is not required to be reported from the Kimmeridge site as it is
not deemed to be in sufficient quantities.

I hope that we have correctly interpreted your request.  Please refer to
the [2]Open Government Licence which explains the permitted use of this
information.

We respond to requests for recorded information that we hold under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the associated Environmental
Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).

If you are not satisfied with our response to your request for information
you can contact us within two calendar months to ask for our decision to
be reviewed.

Yours sincerely
