Perenco Kimmeridge Methane Emissions in 2019
Dear Environment Agency,
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000/ Environmental Information Regulations 2004. I would sincerely appreciate your assistance in obtaining information on the following to help me with my research:
Please provide gas emission figures in tonnes for Perenco’s Kimmeridge well operating under the ML5 Licence that has occurred as a direct result of gas venting (Eg. not the gas volume produced for commercial purposes), with estimates of the amount of methane for the 2019 reporting period. I would also appreciate the inclusion of any gas leaks in the data if this information exists.
If any of the above information is already available, please direct me to where I can access this.
I would be exceedingly grateful for any and all help with the above queries and would like to express my thanks in advance for your hard work in assisting me to obtain this information.
Yours faithfully,
Hannah Sharland

Dear Hannah
Thank you for your enquiry below.
Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) /
Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR)
Perenco reported 333.37 tonnes of methane and 333.37 tonnes of non-methane
volatile organic compounds. This figure is a calculation based on the gas
to oil ratio, and varies annually depending on how much oil is produced.
The gas to oil ratio increased this year from 900 to 1036 following
further vent testing.
The planning application for the gas condensing unit is progressing,
details of which can be found here:
[1]https://plan.dorsetcc.gov.uk/Planning/Di...
I hope that we have correctly interpreted your request. Please refer to
the [2]Open Government Licence which explains the permitted use of this
information.
We respond to requests for recorded information that we hold under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the associated Environmental
Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).
If you are not satisfied with our response to your request for information
you can contact us within two calendar months to ask for our decision to
be reviewed.”
