Perceptions of Policing

Delene Adams made this Freedom of Information request to Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner

Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner,

Please could I request under the Freedom of Information Act a summary of the qualitative and quantitative research you have undertaken (surveys, focus groups, depth interviews) that have focused on public or victim perceptions of policing generally or your force specifically, covering 2019 and 2020 calendar years. Ideally, I would like to see the outputs of the research, but if that is not possible then a simple summary of what research has been undertaken would suffice.

Please let me know if I can amend or clarify my request in any way.

Yours faithfully,

Delene Adams

With reference to your recent enquiry and in response to your question,

Response:

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire recently completed a Victim Needs Analysis. Victims of crime and those affected by crimes impacts are a fundamental focus within policing and for the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC). Every OPCC must be a champion for victims as per their statutory obligations.

In order to further fulfil this commitment a Victim Needs Analysis (VNA) was carried out to help understand the needs and issues for individuals and communities across Bedfordshire. It has been five years since the last VNA was published in 2016. Given the duty to commission victim services that provide victims with the best support, it is absolutely vital that the OPCC has a well-rounded understanding of victims’ needs and the issues that they face locally in comparison to the national context, and any key changes since the last VNA was released.

I have attached a copy of the finalised Victim Needs Analysis document for your information and further information around this piece of work can be found on our website - https://www.bedfordshire.pcc.police.uk/s...

If you would like to any other information surrounding this please do not hesitate to contact me.

We hope this information proves useful. Please come back to us if you require further assistance on this matter.
