Penalty Fare Information 2017
Dear Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive,
For the period of the last 12 months please can you provide the following:
- The number of penalty fares issued by month
- The earnings from penalty fares by month
- The number of tickets sold by month
- The earnings of tickets by month
- The number of penalty fares that have been retracted / cancelled by Nexus / Metro by month

This first table attached shows the following:-
The number of penalty fares issued by month
The earnings from penalty fares by month
The number of penalty fares that have been retracted/cancelled.
Please note that Nexus record the figures by period and not by calendar month.
The second attached table shows the following:-
The number of tickets sold by month
The earnings of tickets by month.
Please note that the second attached table includes the following ticket types only:-
Adult and Child Single, Day, Special Event and Transfare Metro tickets
16-18 and Student Metro season tickets
Adult Metro season tickets including Gold Card
Again, note that Nexus record figures by period and not by calendar month. There are 13 x 4 week periods in each year with period 1 beginning on 1st April each year.
