Pedestrian Crossings

Evan Howle made this Freedom of Information request to Bradford City Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

We're waiting for Evan Howle to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Bradford City Council,

I am looking into finding out about the location of pedestrian crossings in Bradford Council. Please could you provide me with the following:

1) A list of all the different pedestrian crossings within Bradford Council boundaries. Including the location of all formal crossings: Zebra, Toucan, Pegasus, Staggered Pelican/Puffin and Toucan crossings.

2) Information on the type of tactile paving used at each site.

3) A list of all lowered kerbs in the Bradford Council district. Showing the location of each and paying particular attention to the ones intended for use as pedestrian crossing points.

4) The above would ideally include the use of the Geocoordinate system information of each site, but also the street name and location.

The information will be used to provide a complete map of the District to aid in the navigation of Bradford Council for people with limited mobility or requiring the use of a wheelchair.

Yours faithfully,

Evan Howle

RE: Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI
Act)

I refer to your request on 17 November 2018 under the Freedom of
Information Act asking to supply the following information (the Council’s
responses are in red text):

1) A list of all the different pedestrian crossings within Bradford
Council boundaries. Including the location of all formal crossings: Zebra,
Toucan, Pegasus, Staggered Pelican/Puffin and Toucan crossings. Please see
attached spreadsheet

2) Information on the type of tactile paving used at each site. Tactile
paving specifications are in accordance with ‘DETR-Guidance on the use of
tactile paving surfaces’.

3) A list of all lowered kerbs in the Bradford Council district. Showing
the location of each and paying particular attention to the ones intended
for use as pedestrian crossing points. The Council does not have an
inventory dropped kerbs. As such, in view of the size of the district and
significant number of locations at which such facilities will be in place,
this would require a time-consuming manual search and thus, under
Exemption 12 (Cost) of the FOI Act, I cannot provide this information.

4) The above would ideally include the use of the Geocoordinate system
information of each site, but also the street name and location. Our
records are in Eastings/Northings format. Coordinates are included on the
attached spreadsheet

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, if you are not
satisfied with the reply to your request you can ask for a review. A
request for a review must be submitted within 40 working days by
contacting [1][Bradford City Council request email] or by writing to Freedom of formation,
Bradford Metropolitan District, 1st Floor, Britannia House, Hall Ings,
Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD1 1HX.

If you are still not satisfied with the outcome of the internal review you
have the right of appeal to the Information Commissioner who can be
contacted at: Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water
Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
