Pedestrian Crossings

Evan Howle made this Freedom of Information request to Dorset County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was refused by Dorset County Council.

Dear Dorset County Council,

I am looking into finding out about the location of pedestrian crossings in Dorset County Council. Please could you provide me with the following:

1) A list of all the different pedestrian crossings within Dorset County Council boundaries. Including the location of all formal crossings: Zebra, Toucan, Pegasus, Staggered Pelican/Puffin and Toucan crossings.

2) Information on the type of tactile paving used at each site.

3) A list of all lowered kerbs in the Dorset County Council district. Showing the location of each and paying particular attention to the ones intended for use as pedestrian crossing points.

4) The above would ideally include the use of the Geocoordinate system information of each site, but also the street name and location.

The information will be used to provide a complete map of the District to aid in the navigation of Dorset County Council for people with limited mobility or requiring the use of a wheelchair.

Yours faithfully,

Evan Howle

Dear Mr Howle,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

Unfortunately we are unable to answer your request in its current guise
free of charge as doing so would exceed the 18-hour fees limit under
Section 12 of the FOI Act. This is due to the large amount of data
manipulation required to compile lists of all of the pedestrian crossings,
lowered kerbs and types of tactile paving.

For more information, you can find our FOI fees policy [1]here which
includes the charging regime. You can, however, reduce the scope of the
request so that it would take less than 18 hours to complete, at which
point we could then process the request for free.

If you are not completely satisfied with our response, please contact us
again stating that you wish to submit an Internal Review (the first step
of the FOI appeals process). This will be dealt with by our Manager, who
does not get involved with the processing of FOI requests in order to
remain neutral. If your appeal is not resolved to your satisfaction, you
have the right to apply to the [2]Information Commissioner for a decision.

Yours sincerely,

Freedom of Information Team
